The space will provide:
Mental health support
Teenage/young persons health support
Cinema area in the old safeCraft roomA safe place where young people can meet
Once a month, a resident on Hayling has kindly provided their time to help with maintenence of bikes e.g. fix a puncture, fix the chain and gears
We have been in contact with businesses on the Island who are keen to supply work experience
If you would like to support us, all profits from the The WAVE Festival 2022 will be put into the running of the building. Please buy tickets: see below.
As a small charity, volunteers are crucial, so please message if you think you might be able to help - would be endlessly grateful...

WAVE has been very fortunate to have the support and guidance of Gary Davies from Community First. Gary has been advising from the start, helping with the structure of a community organisation protocols and funding. WAVE successfully secured the funding enabling the commission of Y Services to complete research to establish what the young people would like/need on Hayling, Gary’s input was invaluable. Gary guided step by step the process required to become a charity which WAVE successfully achieved 11th August 2020. Thankfully, Gary is still supporting WAVE through application for more funding and securing a location for the young people to meet.
Andy Kennedy is a very experienced youth worker and chair of trustees for Y Services and has been with WAVE from the beginning. Andy advised what the modern young person may need and how to move forward. When the idea came about regarding establishing what the young people on Hayling needed/would like through questionnaire Andy was very supportive. WAVE for a while supplied a homework space for the young people, Andy guided us through all the policies and gave a safeguarding talk. In addition, when WAVE applied to become a charity Andy guided us through the Safeguarding Policy and kindly agreed to be WAVE’s Safeguarding Officer.
Maria Kennedy is the lead for supplying mental health support to the young people and has been very supportive to help bring this to fruition. When COVID restrictions have been lifted the support will be ready.
Y Services was commissioned by The Wave Project to find out what young people’s views were on youth work delivery and support for young people on Hayling Island. This report details the results of a survey completed by 317 young people. The survey findings provide a narrative and context for the planning and development of possible youth work and support.
